👁️ Addressing Fertility Myths
Let’s begin by naming and unlearning some of the myths that dominate the cultural narrative around fertility.
Fertility Myth 1: You're too old — even if you're 29...
The fear, the pressure, the push toward “just in case” invasive treatments — it’s gone too far. Just a generation ago, we knew that conception could take time. Yes, even years.
Of course, there is an age when fertility naturally declines. However, women have been giving birth up until menopause since the dawn of time. The key predictor of fertility is not your age — it's the health of your menstrual cycle.
There are 25-year-olds who don't ovulate and 48-year-olds who conceive naturally. The through line for easeful conception is a healthy cycle and a connected relationship to your womb, intuition, and desire to mother (in all its forms).
Contrary to the cultural narrative, fertility challenges are rarely rooted in age alone. If you have a regular, pain-free cycle with ovulation and a healthy luteal phase — you are fertile, regardless of age.
Fertility Myth 2: You Have to Shut Down the Cycle to Control It
When we meet fertility concerns with fear, there is a rush to suppress the natural cycle rather than support it. There’s rarely space to explore what it means to truly nurture the body back into balance.
Many fertility treatments — including hormonal IUI and IVF — rely on complete suppression of the cycle to allow for external control. For some, this path is perfect (and we love and are deeply grateful for our IVF babies!).
But for others, a more aligned path may begin with gently restoring and regulating the cycle. Yoni steaming supports this by encouraging ovulation, balancing hormones, and preparing the womb to receive — not override — its natural rhythm.
Fertility Myth 3: The Body Needs Fixing
When it comes to fertility and conception, there is no dearth of “shoulds.” From doctors to dentists to Google to ChatGPT to your friendly lady at the deli counter, plenty of people are available to tell you what to eat, when to fuck, which pills to swallow, even how to think.
But so long as it is shared from a mentality of how to “fix your body” even the best advice will miss the mark. Because your body knows what all these other folks seem to be missing, you are not broken.
When we meet the body in trust and with love, the path doesn’t just look different, it feels different. You might still eats lots of dark leafy greens but it is from an inner knowing of craving their nourishment not from a fear that you don’t know what to eat. You’ll likely still have sex on many of the same days of your cycle but without a prescription for it there is deeper access to joy in it. And almost inevitably, you’ll be invited to look, see, and feel something that only you — only your heart-womb connection — is wise enough to reveal.
This return to the body — the remembrance of your wholeness and innate ability to heal — is the benefit of yoni steaming for fertility and conception that lives beyond the physical.
❓ What Affects Fertility and Conception?
Fertility is not a separate function — it is the natural expression of a nourished, balanced menstrual cycle.
If the rhythm of your cycle includes a follicular phase that builds steadily toward a reliable ovulation, followed by a sustained luteal phase, and a complete, healthy bleed — 3–4 days of fresh red blood, free from pain and clots — you are fertile.
So what affects fertility and what affects your menstrual cycle are, in essence, one and the same.
Fertility may be influenced by:
- Hormonal factors — including thyroid imbalances (often related to adrenal fatigue and/or iron deficiency) that affect the body’s natural rhythms and menstrual cycle, leading to unpredictable ovulation or absent periods
- Imbalances of the uterine lining — too thick, too thin, or not fully shedding each month during menstruation, which can lead to stagnation and challenges with implantation
- Residual stagnation — from past hormonal birth control use (the pill and IUD particularly), miscarriage, prior birth, or trauma
- Blood Deficiency — when the blood is lacking the nourishment needed to fully support the womb and the phases of a healthy menstrual cycle, including a pain-free period of 3–4 days of fresh red blood
- Stress — cortisol, the body’s main stress hormone, and the sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone) have the same biochemical base ingredient, cholesterol. The body will preferentially use its available cholesterol to make cortisol, as it’s coded as “needed for survival.” If the body is in stress (aka survival mode), it will not prioritize producing the sex hormones and healthy fertility.
- Disconnection from the womb — especially in a world shaped by constant stress and a medical system that so often keeps us in our heads, we may need to address a disconnection and/or denigration of the body. Without a connection to her rhythms and wisdom, she will not be as fertile.
♨️ How Yoni Steaming May Support Fertility and Natural Conception
Yoni steaming supports fertility by restoring rhythm, clearing stagnation, and creating the internal environment for healthy conception.
It can work physically by increasing circulation to the womb, nourishing the uterine lining, and supporting hormonal balance. It can also work energetically — offering a moment to release, reset, and reconnect with your body.
🌹 Supports a Healthy Menstrual Cycle
Ironically, when exploring fertility and conception, the health of the menstrual cycle is often ignored or dismissed. Conventional providers rarely ask about your cycle experience — it's length, your blood, your sex drive, your cervical fluid. But the menstrual cycle is the foundation of fertility.
Yoni steaming counters the dismissal of our cycles's importance. At its core, the practice of yoni steaming is here to support the overall health and balance of your menstrual cycle, and thus your fertility.
It promotes the complete cleanse of the uterus by helping to release old residue, buildup, or stagnation. This supports the emergence of a healthy bleed of 3-4 days of bright red blood without clots or pain.
Steaming is an effective delivery mechanism for herbal medicine - your body receives nutrient dense herbal constituents from the steam right into your blood stream, building your blood and supporting a healthy uterine lining for implementation.
Steaming may also stimulate ovulation by bringing awareness, warmth, and vitality to the wombspace. It can bring you into deeper connection with your rhythms so that you reach embodied clarity on when you are in which phase of your cycle, helping you to know when you are most fertile.
🩸 Circulation and Uterine Health
The gentle heat of yoni steaming can improve circulation to the pelvic region — increasing blood flow to the womb and surrounding reproductive organs. This enhanced circulation delivers oxygen and nutrients to the uterine lining, while supporting the release of old residue and stagnation that interferes with fertility.
For those experiencing long cycles, clotting, PMS, or signs of uterine fatigue (such as short or irregular cycles), this support for natural cleansing and rhythm restoration that helps create more favorable conditions for ovulation and implantation.
Yoni steaming may also strengthen uterine function — especially for those recovering from hormonal birth control or navigating signs of depletion — gently guiding the womb back into readiness for conception.
⚖️ Hormonal Balance and Liver Support for Conception
Yoni steaming may encourage hormonal balance through gentle liver and endocrine system support. Herbal medicine nourishes the endocrine system and aids liver detoxification.
The liver plays a vital role in metabolizing hormones, especially estrogen. When liver function is supported, it may become easier to regulate ovulation, strengthen the luteal phase, and maintain a healthy menstrual cycle — all key to natural fertility.
🕊️ Reducing Stress to Support Fertility
Stress deeply impacts fertility — and it’s more than just a feeling. It’s a physiological state. When stress becomes chronic, it can affect fertility in deep and measurable ways.
The body prioritizes survival over conception. When under stress, it produces cortisol preferentially over the reproductive hormones like estrogen and progesterone. Not because you’re broken, but because your body is doing its best to keep you safe. This can lead to hormonal imbalance, reduced fertility, and disrupt the natural rhythms of the menstrual cycle.
Yoni steaming helps reduce stress by activating the parasympathetic nervous system — your body’s natural relaxation response.
The warmth, herbs, and quiet of each session invite you to slow down and reconnect with your body, soothing the nervous system and shifting you out of stress responses such as fight, flight, and freeze.
When yoni steaming for fertility, you can use each session to intentionally signal to the body that you’re safe and imagine co-creating with her the conditions for conception and healthy pregnancy.
And the more regularly you steam, the more your body may carry this message — even after the steam ends — inviting a felt sense of readiness and trust into your wombspace, embodied through the re-emergence of a healthy and balanced menstrual cycle.
💗 Emotional Healing and Reconnection
Yoni steaming offers something rare and essential on the fertility journey: space to emotionally reconnect with your womb.
In conventional fertility care, providers rarely ask about your cycle experience — your bleed, cervical fluid, or your relationship with your womb. There’s often no space to rest, feel, or be with what’s rising — just protocols, pills/injections, and pressure.
Steaming creates space for something else entirely.
It invites you to slow down. To soften. To listen.
To tend to your womb not as a problem to fix, but as a wise and integral part of you. To process your longing, your grief, your desires, and surrender to your unique path to fertility.
Disconnection from the womb is common, and deeply understandable, in a world that rewards doing over being and often keeps us in our heads. But your body holds wisdom and yoni steaming may help you come home to it.
With the practice of yoni steaming you can release emotions, rebuild trust with your body, and reconnect you with the inner wisdom that’s so often overlooked — yet central to conception and healing.
Yoni steaming is a practice of devotion.
While some experience benefits quickly, it’s not a "quick fix" or a guarantee. Rather, yoni steaming supports root cause healing, invites surrender, and honors the unknown.
It may help create the conditions for conception, but more deeply, it invites you into trust that your journey is unfolding for you.
“It wasn't until I discovered yoni steaming that I came out of my disembodied whirlwind of fear and overwhelm and remembered the capabilities of my indeed fertile womb.”
🗓️ When to Yoni Steam for Fertility and Conception
Yoni steaming to support fertility involves honoring two distinct phases:
🌱 Preparation Window
A time to nourish the womb, release stagnation, and bring hormones into balance before actively trying to conceive.
Steaming in this phase may be done daily or every other day, except during menstruation, for 3 to 6 months. This supports uterine cleansing, hormone regulation, and a healthy balanced cycle.
💞 Active Conception Window
This is when you are actively trying to conceive.
During this time, steam only during the follicular phase: from the end of your bleed up until ovulation. Stop steaming after ovulation or insemination, and do not steam if there’s a possibility of pregnancy.
🌼 Let’s Talk About the Preparation Phase
If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you want to be pregnant right now. And more than that, you may want to be holding your baby right now. To hear “slow down,” even for two or three months, might feel disheartening.
It makes sense, it's tender.
However, at Kitara we've seen that with womb healing, particularly fertility, the gentler path — the one that seems slower — often brings you to what you desire more swiftly than rushing ever could.
And... sometimes it’s not easy. Kit, our founder, didn’t want to hear it either. At 37, with a pain-free and regular cycle, she felt ready. Why wait?
And yet, when she followed her own protocol of preparation steams, she got pregnant. Even in her forties. That protocol? A daily-ish steam for 3–6 months.
🧭 The Yoni Steaming for Fertility Preparation Protocol
Month 1
Steam every other day (ish) aka aim for that routine and be gentle with yourself.
Month 2 - 5
→ If your cycle stays 28 days or longer, proceed to daily-ish steaming for 2–5 months.
→ If your cycle shortens under 28 days, continue with every other day for 2–5 months (using Rejuvenate herbs).
During this preparation protocol, you might choose to not have sex during your fertile window as your mind might then resist steaming for the second half of your cycle. However, the additional steaming support during luteal is particularly beneficial for fertility preparation.
Only move into the Active Conception Window once your cycle shows signs of health and balance (fertile cervical mucus and a pain free period of fresh red blood) and you feel emotionally and energetically aligned.
For extra support and guidance regarding your readiness in this tender moment, it can be helpful to check in with one of our certified steam practitioners.
💫 Entering the Active Conception Window
Once your whole self — mind, heart, womb, and inner knowing — is truly ready, begin steaming with intention and love from the end of your period up until the beginning of your fertile widow. This may mean that you only steam for a few days per cycle in the active conception window, which is why it is so important to give yourself the space for daily ish steams in your preparation protocol.
Important:
- Do not steam after ovulation or if you might be pregnant.
- Never steam during menstruation or active bleeding (even light spotting).
- If you’re using IUI or IVF, we recommend booking with one of our certified steam practitioners for a custom steam plan.
Watch here for our founder, Kit Maloney, sharing about her journey with yoni steaming for fertility and her recommendations for conception steaming protocols.
Our certified steam practitioners are well versed in personalizing steaming protocols to support your conception journey, whichever additional fertility treatments you choose.
⏰ How Long Should I Steam for Fertility and Conception?
Yoni steaming for fertility and conception invites you to move at your own pace — guided by your body, your intuition, and your inner knowing.
When it comes to how long to steam, there are two primary approaches:
-
The Gentle Steam Set-up, which offers a shorter session with mild heat
-
The Extended Steam Set-up, which provides a longer session with sustained heat
Each method supports the body differently. The key is to honor where you are in your cycle and journey — and to choose the set-up that feels most aligned with your needs and sensitivities.
💛 Gentle Steam (10–12 minutes)
- Recommended for first time and beginner steamers and those with sensitivities including:
-
- Shorter cycles, 27 days or less
- Prone to infections (yeast, bacteria, herpes)
- Indications of excess heat in the body (vaginal dryness, night sweats, hot flashes, etc)
- Under the age of 13
- Prone to fresh red spotting/ trickle bleeding
- Spontaneous bleeding or 2 periods per month
- Use of an IUD
-
Steps for Gentle Steam Set-up:
This Gentle Steam Set-up, with the pot off the burner, is best for first time steamers and super gentle and restorative steams.
- Heat yoni steam herbs on moderate heat for 10 minutes
- If using a burner inside your seat, turn off the burner. If using an alternative heat source, remove your yoni steam pot from the heat and transfer to your seat.
- Wait for steam to settle and appear at a safe heat level.
- Test the heat level by hovering the back of your hand over the steam.
- If the heat level feels soft and gentle, slowly position yourself on your seat/over your steam pot.
- Check in with yourself and your body. If at anytime you wonder if the temperature of the steam is too hot, stand up immediately and then re-evaluate. It should feel good.
- Inhale, Exhale, Enjoy.
🔥 Extended Steam (20–30 minutes) to Support Fertility
- Recommended for those with cycles of 28 days of longer, none of the above sensitivities
- Uses an active heat source (like a burner) while steaming, maintaining a medium (but still gentle) heat level for the duration of your steam
- Best for those without sensitivities that need extra cleansing support to address painful periods from menstrual stagnation, cramps, and fibroids
- And please remember, always, including for Extended Steams, the heat level of the steam should feel good to you and your yoni.
Start slowly. Your womb will guide you.
If you’re unsure where to begin, start with the Gentle Steam Set-up.
Let your body guide you. Notice how you feel during and after each session, and adjust over time. There is no rush — just attunement. As you deepen your practice, you’ll build trust in your body’s signals, develop your own rhythm, and steam in alignment with your intuition.

🥚 Ovulation and the Fertile Window: Timing for Conception
💃🏽 The Diva of the Menstrual Cycle — Arrive Early
Ovulation is the phase that loves a little sparkle and spotlight — and she’s particular about timing. She rewards those who show up early, excited to play.
Thanks to the magic of cervical mucus, sperm can stay alive and healthy in the uterus for several days (up to five!). So that’s why the “fertile window” includes more than just the moment of ovulation. It typically begins a few days before — often in the final days of the follicular phase.
After your bleed completes, we recommend intentionally opening the window of nurturing conditions for intimacy, play and sex. Slow down, open the sexual energy between you and your body and your partner. Focusing on pleasure and good sex in this window can increase cervical mucus and your fertility.
💧 Fertile Cervical Mucus — Sticky Magic
Cervical mucus is a natural fluid secreted by the cervix that changes in consistency throughout the menstrual cycle to support or prevent sperm movement, protect the uterus, and signal fertility.
When your cervical mucus becomes stretchy — like egg whites — it signals peak fertility.
At this consistency, your cervical mucus is fertile and does more than hint at ovulation. It creates an ideal environment for conception by helping sperm survive, move efficiently, and stay protected on their journey to meet the egg.
This fertile mucus can keep sperm alive in the uterus for up to five days — making it one of the most important natural signs to support conception.
💫 Ovulation Tracking Tools:
There are many technologies out there today to help us track and understand the menstrual cycle for fertility. Sometimes they guide us toward accessing our embodied wisdom, other times they might disconnect us from our body and put us in a stress response that blocks our fertility.
We invite you to approach these with gentleness and curiosity and to stay in relationship to your knowing on how a tool might serve you, or not.
💡 LH Strips — Simple, Helpful, Accessible
Luteinizing Hormone (LH) surges just before ovulation and is a key sign that your body is preparing to release an egg. One way to track this is by taking your Basal Body Temperature (BBT) each morning — a foundational part of the Fertility Awareness Method (FAM).
And while we love the wisdom and rhythm of FAM, we also know that on a trying-to-conceive journey, tracking BBT can feel like a lot.
If looking for reassurance on timing of ovulation, we love LH strips.
They’re delightfully simple — pee on a strip, look for two lines. They’re also affordable (often less than $1 each!). These strips offer a quick, accessible way to confirm your LH surge and help you time intercourse with more confidence.
📅 Tip: Begin testing daily after your bleed and continue through ovulation to catch the LH surge window. Write this down each cycle to track consistency or differences which can help you better anticipate your fertile window in future months.
🧪 Proov Ovulation Test — Clarity Beyond the LH Surge
LH strips identify the surge that often precedes ovulation. But here’s the nuance: an LH surge doesn’t always guarantee that ovulation actually occurred.
That’s where the Proov Ovulation Test comes in. This test helps confirm successful ovulation by tracking PdG, a hormone only released after the body has released an egg.
If you’ve been using LH strips for a while and are seeking more clarity and confidence in your ovulation timing, Proov may offer the deeper insight you’ve been looking for.
At $99, it’s an investment — but for many on the conception journey, it’s a worthwhile step toward empowerment and refined fertility tracking.
🌟 Sex, Pleasure, and Yoni Steaming for Fertility and Conception
Pleasure is Medicine
When you’re on a challenging conception journey, prioritizing pleasure can feel impossible. Even frivolous. That feeling is valid and you’re not alone in it.
And still, we invite you to remember that pleasure heals.
Our systems are designed for the receptivity of pleasure, making it key to our thriving and therefore our fertility.
Sensuality is the Gateway to Sexuality
Yoni steaming may support fertility not only through physical and hormonal pathways, but also through reconnecting us to our senses. When you're steaming allow your awareness to travel down to your womb — to your pussy — breathe with her, be with her, and enjoy the juicy aliveness of your body.
Steaming can be a loving, non-performative way to return to your turn-on and a beautiful warm up for sex, with a partner or yourself.
Solo Sex and the Fertility Journey
It may feel counterintuitive, but solo sex — yes, even in the midst of trying to conceive — can be one of the most powerful ways to reclaim pleasure and return to feeling good in and grateful for your body.
If intercourse has become all about timing, ovulation strips, and pressure, self-pleasure can offer a reset. Orgasm is more than climax and is here to help you nourish, release, and heal. It even assists in flushing out cortisol, helping the body remember that it’s safe to generate optimal levels of estrogen, progesterone, and other reproductive hormones essential for ovulation.
💗 Emotional Support Through Yoni Steaming for Fertility and Conception
Fertility journeys are rarely linear. They stretch us, inviting us to feel more deeply than we thought possible. Joy, jealousy, longing, anger, resentment, grief. For all the physical ways yoni steaming may support fertility and conception, one of its most profound gifts may be this — space to feel.
The gentle ritual of steam invites us back into the body when modern fertility approaches often lead us out of it. At a time when fertility tracking, appointments, and external advice can dominate, steaming offers and a place to feel and process.
It's A Lot. Receive Support.

💔 Miscarriage, Pregnancy Loss and Yoni Steaming
Many pregnancies — up to 30 percent — end in miscarriage or loss. If this is part of your fertility journey, we honor your pain and we're so sorry you're going through this. We are here with you and offer this information about ways your yoni steam practice can support you with our tender love and care.
When to Steam for Miscarriage and Pregnancy Loss
From a physical safety standpoint, it is generally safe to yoni steam 2 days after your pregnancy loss. This is because it is likely that the uterine arteries — once opened to support the pregnancy — are now closed. An important indicator that the uterine arteries are closed is if you notice less bleeding day to day for two days. If you have concerns around safety, please check with your midwife or steam practitioner.
The recommended protocol is to steam daily for 3 days or until you feel the uterus is fully supported in her clearing process.
Moving at Your Pace
There may be resistance to steaming after miscarriage and loss. To go from hope and excitement and planning for the arrival of your baby to loss and grief is one of the most painful experiences one can have.
So though you might have the physical readiness, there is no need to rush. Your practice is here to hold you through the emotions of grieving and letting go — whether it is days, weeks, or years after loss.
Miscarriage, Pregnancy Loss, and Abortion
Miscarriage of a planned or wanted pregnancy and abortion of an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy are paradoxically completely different emotional and energetic experiences while being potentially identical experiences to the physical body. Many of us meet both on our path and one can bring up feelings about the other. It can be a lot to navigate and there are very few spaces equipped to hold the truth of it all with safety and care. However, your steam practice is here — ready, willing, and able — to hold all of you in healing.
Speaking & Sharing
How can something so common be so painful? We wish we could shield you from the heartache. What we can do is offer a reminder that your story and how you feel called to share it matters. We hope you find safe, nurturing, and nourishing places to be heard and seen in all of you.
"I'm not sure I really have advice, per se. Truth is, I still find myself regularly thinking about the depths of pain and sorrow endured from our conception journey. I thought it would break me and at many times it felt that it had broken me. I wondered often if/how I could possibly make it through. It was the hardest — hardest — thing. So whatever is coming up for you, please know that you’re not alone in the fear and pain and heartache and that you are doing great. Because that is absolutely also true." - Kit Maloney, Founder of Kitara
🥼 Medical Advice, Inner Wisdom, and the Fertility Journey
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, dismissed, or out of sync in conversations with medical providers, you’re not alone. There are professionals in every field who override. And there are professionals who honor. There is a growing population of Midwives, Naturopathic Doctors, and Integrative MD's who offer a widening range of treatments and center you on your path.
Because this is your journey. You get to be in charge of who is on your support team — hiring and yes, even firing in accordance with how aligned support looks and feels like to you.
💉 Yoni Steaming: IUI, IVF, and Hormonal Fertility Treatments
Yoni steaming is also helpful if you choose fertility treatments like IUI, IVF, and ovulation induction protocols.
Steaming before a procedure can support circulation to the wombspace, ready the body, and soothe your heart.
While some midwives or holistic fertility clinics incorporate steaming into their offerings (yay! thank you and more please!), you’ll likely yoni steam at home. You can use this opportunity to create connection and safety with your body, letting her know what the treatment is, what's going to happen, and what the intention is. Listen to her questions and needs and offer reassurance and gratitude for her willingness to support you on your path.
🩸 Caring For Yourself During Your Period
After the emotional intensity of the two-week wait, receiving your period can be heartbreaking. Give yourself some space to honor the bigness of the disappointment. Whether you need to scream, cry, or put the covers over your head, it's okay and it makes sense.
When your bleed completes, steaming may support a full uterine cleanse and help you process your grief and emotions. These steams may offer more than physical clearing by allowing for emotional integration and helping you resource for the journey ahead.
If you are experiencing cramps or painful periods, we offer holistic ways to care for yourself during menstruation here.
🌀 Are You Ready for the Active Conception Window?
“I wish I had considered that sooner...”
We hear this often about yoni steaming and other practices that bring meaningful support and enhanced fertility on the path to conception. So before you shift from steaming for Fertility Preparation into steaming for Active Conception, here are a few additional invitations to consider.
🦷 Health and Fertility: How Your Mouth Impacts Conception
It might not sound magical, but book in with your dentist because your oral health matters. The mouth-womb connection (also referred to as the 2nd and 5th chakra link) is more than metaphor. These are mirroring portals within the body and issues in the mouth often reflect imbalances in the reproductive system.
In practical terms gum disease has been linked to fertility struggles, certain dental procedures and products are best completed before pregnancy, and once your baby arrives... well, the dentist drops far down the priority list.
So yes, it may not be glamorous, but it’s powerful. Tending to your mouth is a gesture of readiness for conception, pregnancy, and motherhood.
🦋 Thyroid and Fertility: Why It Deserves Your Attention
Hormones work in intricate harmony. And while every piece matters, the thyroid plays an especially pivotal role in fertility and healthy conception.
This is another point on the throat-womb axis where energy, expression, and hormonal function converge. Imbalances in the thyroid can affect ovulation, implantation, and the health of your pregnancy.
If it feels aligned and reassuring for your conception journey, consider running a full thyroid panel that includes checking TSH, Free T3, and Free T4.
✨ Also, what do you know you need to speak out loud?
The throat and vaginal canal are mirror images in the body. In offering release of one we may create more receptivity and alignment in the other. Whether you choose supplements, pharmaceuticals, or lifestyle shifts to support your thyroid health, your thyroid health may remain limited if you are suppressing anything you know must be spoken, expressed, or shared.
☀️ Vitamin D and Fertility: Essential and Often Overlooked
There’s a powerful connection between Vitamin D and thyroid health. Optimizing both can create a stronger foundation for conception and pregnancy.
Vitamin D is one of the most crucial — and commonly deficient — nutrients when it comes to fertility.
Low levels of Vitamin D have been associated with irregular cycles, hormonal imbalance, implantation challenges, and increased risk of miscarriage.
If you’re getting your thyroid tested or doing any other labs, we recommend asking for your Vitamin D levels at the same time. Many people benefit from simple additional support like a high quality liquid supplement. Please also consider that some of us need Vitamin K alongside Vitamin D to aid in absorption.
🪡 Acupuncture and Fertility: A Natural Path to Conception
Acupuncture has long been revered for its ability to bring the body into balance, working with the body’s meridians to promote circulation, regulate hormones, reduce stress, and support reproductive health. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), fertility isn’t viewed in isolation — it’s part of the whole system, intimately connected to digestion, sleep, liver function, emotions, and more.
For many on the conception journey, acupuncture and yoni steaming work beautifully together.
Both practices may help regulate the menstrual cycle, support ovulation and implantation, reduce stress and cortisol levels, and invite you to slow down, reconnect, and soften into relationship with your body.
As with any practitioners there can be a wide range of experience and ability with acupuncturists. It's okay to try out a few and important to always to work with practitioners of any kind with whom you feel a strong trust and resonance.
🏵️ Get to Know Your Midwife
Did you know that midwives do more than attend births? Many also offer fertility support and can become a powerful ally for your conception journey.
From hormone and thyroid testing to cycle tracking and even non-hormonal IUI, midwives often provide holistic care that centers your story, your intuition, and your aligned choices. Some even offer treatments in cozy spaces with sheepskin rugs, fresh brewed herbal tea, and true emotional presence.
Midwifery care is non-hierarchal, grounded in trust and reverence for the female body, and honors the deep spiritual and physical preparation that fertility and conception invite.
If you’re considering a homebirth or midwifery support during pregnancy or birthing, beginning the relationship now, during your fertility journey, sends a powerful message to your whole being that you are ready for motherhood.
🪷 Be in (Literal) Alignment: Chiropractic Support for Fertility and Conception
The spine is a central communication channel of the body and its alignment can influence everything from hormone regulation to uterine positioning.
Many chiropractors take insurance and offer care specifically designed to support fertility, including adjustments that promote pelvic alignment and nervous system balance. These sessions can help reduce tension, improve circulation to the reproductive organs, and support the body in preparing for conception.
If you’re planning for pregnancy, developing a relationship with a trusted chiropractor now can offer benefits that carry through each stage — from conception to pregnancy to postpartum recovery.

🫶 Your Partner & Community: Emotional Considerations for Fertility
As you prepare your womb for fertility and conception, you may consider how your intentions are being held and supported by your partner. How is your partner showing up for their reproductive health? We know this can be a complex one.
If you are partnered with a man, we're here with you to honor that becoming a father is a big deal and men oftentimes don’t have mentors or the physical or emotional support needed to process and ready themselves. We encourage you to move gently, speak with compassion, and as you can, trust that your partner is on his own unique and valid journey.
For our Queer community, we celebrate your expression and the expansion it brings to our collective consciousness around fertility and family. If your fertility and conception journey involves treatments, procedures, and societal and cultural stress, we invite you to be gentle and compassionate with yourself and whomever you've chosen to be with you on this journey.

➤ FAQs
Can yoni steaming help with fertility and getting pregnant?
Yoni steaming may support fertility by improving circulation, nourishing uterine health, encouraging hormonal balance, and calming the nervous system. While not a medical guarantee, many find it helpful for preparing body and spirit for conception. Read more for How Yoni Steaming May Support Fertility and Natural Conception here.
Is it safe to yoni steam during pregnancy?
No. Yoni steaming is not recommended during pregnancy until the final weeks where it can be used to prepare for labor. Yoni steaming can, however, be a beautiful way to prepare the womb for conception. For personalized support, we recommend booking a consultation.
Can I yoni steam while on my period?
No. Never steam while actively bleeding — including your period or fresh red spotting. Your body is already cleansing during this time. Instead, we invite you to rest, nourish, hydrate, and care gently for your womb. Read Caring For Yourself During Your Period for more information about practices for menstruation.
Which herbs are best for fertility yoni steaming?
Herbs are powerful allies in the yoni steam practice — offering support for cycle regulation, the release of stagnation, uterine health, and embodied connection with each steam. At Kitara, we’ve created organic herbal blends to support fertility by addressing the most common cycle patterns we see: stagnation, short cycles, and the need for deep womb nourishment. Each blend is formulated with care to meet you exactly where you are on your fertility journey.
For stagnation: Use our Release Cleansing Blend (motherwort, nettle, calendula) to support clearing stagnation.
For short cycles of 27 days of less: Use our Rejuvenate Strengthening Blend (mugwort, shepherd’s purse, astragalus, ashwagandha) for gentle nourishment and cycle support.
For general womb nourishment: Use our Womb Wisdom Universal Blend (red raspberry leaf, rosemary, lavender) to support embodiment and womb-heart resonance.
Can yoni steaming help balance hormones?
Many find that consistent yoni steaming helps regulate hormones by increasing circulation and activating the body’s relaxation response. It’s not a cure-all, but it may gently support hormonal harmony over time.
Can I steam if I’m doing IVF, IUI, or other fertility treatments?
Yes — with care. Only steam in the follicular phase (after your period, before ovulation or transfer). We highly recommend working with a certified steam practitioner to create a protocol that supports your treatment path.
