Handmade Yoni Steam Seats on a Mission
Founded in Autumn 2019, Kitara is on a mission to spread womb space health and healing. Kitara offers everything you need to yoni steam at home effectively with safety and ease.
We are lovingly marching towards our goal of a yoni steam seat in every home.
Our triangle represents the 3 pillars of our company: We stand for the uterine, menstrual, and yoni health of our community, we lovingly tend to the financial health of our business, and we operate in devotion to the principles of intersectional feminism.

Our Founder
Kit Maloney
For over twenty years Kit Maloney has been an activist, academic, and entrepreneur committed to channeling her passion for gender equity into a celebration of women and yoni bodied folks embodied health and healing. She’s earned a Masters degree in Gender and Social Policy from the London School of Economics and has been featured widely in the media, including Glamour, Self, and Bustle.
She is also the founder of O’actually & The Pleasure Pledge, two ventures honoring female sexual pleasure (and orgasms!) for safety, healing, and empowerment. Marie Claire named Kit an "Amazing Woman" for her work celebrating women's sexuality.
Kitara's Origin Story
Kit's certainly no newbie to talking about taboo, exploring alternative healing modalities, and championing yoni bodied wisdom. And yet...
Even for Kit, upon first hearing about yoni steaming she herself was a bit eye rolley about the whole thing.
As Kit is known to say, Patriarchy’s grasp is strong! So we must stay open, curious, and listen to each other and our bodies inner knowing.
Knowing that many things that initially seem weird quickly become game changers, Kit connected to her boundless curiosity and booked a session with a trained and trusted vaginal steam practitioner to check it out for herself.
Kit's first yoni steam was transformative. The gentle yet potent power of that initial yoni steam unlocked a connection to the Divine Feminine she'd been seeking for years. Then, after three yoni steams, Kit realized her PMS of menstrual cramps and lower back were simply gone.
She was officially hooked on yoni steaming. Known for her relentless curiosity, unshakable commitment to women's safety and empowerment, and infectious laugh, Kit set out to learn everything she possibly could about vaginal steaming.
Kit fervently began her studies of vaginal steaming's global history, yoni steam protocols for addressing a wide variety of ailments, and the early yet wildly compelling science coming out to prove what women have known for thousands of years: yoni steaming is a medicine that works.
She embarked on a certification course to become a Vaginal Steam Practitioner and transitioned fully from being a skeptic to trained specialist.
Then Kit realized, without easy access to the quality products and expert guidance needed for safe and easy vaginal steaming, the practice would struggle to reach yonis far and wide. So with her unique blend of feminism, creativity, and determination, Kit set off to create a venture to spread the love and healing.
Thus Kitara was born!

Made in Maine
At the same time that the idea for Kitara was coming through to Kit, she and her husband moved from Colorado to an 1848 farmhouse in Maine.
Kit spent their first summer in Maine working alongside her woodworking teaching to design and build the very first Kitara yoni steam seats.
Demand for Kitara's line of yoni steam set-ups quickly grew. To keep up with the pace of orders, Kit partnered with a local woman owned woodworking shop down the road. Ensuring that all Kitara yoni steam seats continue to be handmade by women in Maine.
Kit and her epically supportive husband welcomed their cute and curious baby boy born at home in Maine on May 22, '22.
Kit is joyously humbled to be surrounded by a community of inspiring, open-hearted, and encouraging friends and family.
