Fill a medium sized pot with water and place it on medium-high heat.
If you have herbs for your yoni steam, add them to the pot before heating.
After steam begins to rise from your pot, but before you see it boil, remove the pot from the heat.
Remove Sauna lid and place your pot inside the Kitara Sauna. Close the lid again. Check the heat of the steam with your hand to ensure it is not to hot, waiting for temp to cool if needed. You're ready to steam!
Sit on top of your sauna uncovered from the waist down. After you sit, you may want to wrap a cozy organic blanket over your lap. Widen your knees apart from each other comfortably.
The steam should feel warm and soothing, never hot, painful, or even the slightest bit uncomfortable.
Enjoy your steam for 10-15 minutes or up to 30 minutes if first advised by a Certified Vaginal Steam Practitioner.
While you steam, enjoy some favorite soothing music or a meditation, drink a cup of tea, enjoy a face mask, and relax into your sweet moment of embodied self care.

For twenty years Kit's channeled her passion for gender equity into a celebration of women’s embodied health and healing. She earned a Masters degree in Gender and Social Policy from the London School of Economics and have been featured widely in the media, including Glamour, Self, and Bustle.

I was so excited to try my new sauna. The last time I steamed, it was in a metal bowl over the toilet! Not exactly the environment in which I would want to engage in such a sacred and important ritual. The Kitara sauna is well built, beautiful, and easy to use! I'm so pleased with my purchase!
Opening the box was such a fun experience because the sauna is BEAUTIFUL. I wasn't sure entirely what to expect, but this is exactly the sturdy vaginal steam box you'd want to use. It's made of ultra high quality wood and the workmanship is beautiful.
You could either tuck this box away or fit it into a room's aesthetic. I really love it and feel happy just being near it, which is obviously what you want when doing steaming. :)

Steaming should NEVER hurt and PLEASE DON'T BURN YOURSELF.
When practiced properly, steaming is always gentle, soothing, and relaxing. Before every steam session, check the temperature of the steam coming out of the top of the sauna with the palm of your hand. If it's too hot for comfort, wait for the steam to cool. If you think it's cool enough and then things heat up beyond comfort, stand up immediately and wait again for the steam to cool. A note on our current culture: We tend to have this "work hard, play hard" script operating in our lives that steaming does not fit into. There is no benefit from enduring discomfort. In fact, steaming is more beneficial when experienced with gentleness and ease. It is a time to connect lovingly with you yoni through nurturance and care.
Burning IS AVOIDABLE. Never steam beyond your comfort and stand up immediately if you experience even an inkling of discomfort or pain.
YES. Major contraindications or times when steaming is to be avoided are:
1) During pregnancy (steam opens the cervix)
2) During your bleed/period (steam increases blood flow)
3) Between ovulation and bleed when trying to conceive
4) If you're experiencing spontaneous bleeding/ bleeding in-between periods
The Kitara Sauna is 14in x 14in x 14in. Small enough to be lovingly tucked into a closet when not in use.
